New West FLAG gallery Launch Party!
March 4th or 5th
1pm - 4pm
Check it out and apply to exhibit your work too!

You are invited to the launch party of the Free Little Art Gallery (FLAG) of New Westminster located at 815 Edinburgh Street.
The FLAG was recently profiled in the New West Record (see https://www.newwestrecord.ca/local-news/visit-new-wests-tiniest-art-gallery-6434134).
The free outdoor event will happen rain or shine (hopefully shine) on either Saturday March 4 or Sunday March 5 from 1 pm to 4 pm.
The event includes live entertainment, light refreshments, arts & craft workshops for all ages, other activities and prize draws. The event will take place outside our home on the 800-block of Edinburgh Street. More details will be posted at https://www.instagram.com/newwestflag/.
The event is made possible by a Neighbourhood Small Grant from Family Services of Greater Vancouver, which must be spent before mid-March, and an Arts Council of New Westminster honorarium.
I hope you will attend and will support the event in other ways:
· Keep Edinburgh Street car-free between 823 / 824 Edinburgh Street and 8th Street during the launch party by walking, cycling or taking transit to the event or by parking your vehicle on the east side of 8th Street or at New Westminster Secondary School.
· Organize a fun, family-oriented activity for the launch party (such as a game), lead an arts workshop, demonstrate an art activity, or help with an activity at the launch party.
· Bring a snack or dessert that does not need to be kept warm (such as cookies) to share with others at the launch party.
· Bring chairs to the launch party for you and others and your own mug and eating utensils.
If you plan to attend, please RSVP by March 1 at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/6LFDCS3 or by email with your name, total number of attendees and how you will support the event.
Cheers,
Fulton, Tracey & Harrison
MORE ABOUT THE FLAG GALLERY:

The Free Little Art Gallery (FLAG) of New Westminster is now open to share art 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The motto of the FLAG is love art ~ make art ~ leave a piece of art ~ take a piece of art.
Visitors to the FLAG can view the art on display, take an arts & craft kit to make art, leave a piece of art for others to take and/or take a piece of art.
The FLAG is located outdoors at 815 Edinburgh Street in the Moody Park neighbourhood on the unceded and traditional territory of the Halkomelem speaking peoples.
The FLAG is little. It is housed in a cabinet whose inside height is 25 centimetres (or 10 inches) and width is 95 centimetres (or 37.5 inches).

Artists of all ages and abilities are encouraged to leave a little piece of art or poetry in the FLAG anonymously or with their contact information. Professional artists can give away little pieces of art through the FLAG to publicize their work and to connect with new clients. Please contact me if you would like to hold a solo exhibit in the FLAG.
The FLAG is free. There is no charge to view the art, to take a piece of art nor to take an arts & craft kit to make art. Art left in the FLAG is given away for free. The free arts & craft kits are supported by a grant from the City of New Westminster and donations. Those taking an arts & craft kit can keep their creation or put it on display in the FLAG.
The FLAG serves several purposes. It brings the community together through the creation, viewing and sharing of art and poetry. It highlights the abilities of local artists and supports artists in the community by giving them a venue to exhibit, promote and give away their art. It nurtures artistic abilities by offering free arts & craft kits and workshops.

The FLAG is seeking artists to design arts & craft kits for distribution through the FLAG and to organize and lead arts & craft workshops in New Westminster. It can pay an honorarium to kit designers and workshop leaders. Please contact me with your proposal if you are interested in either role.
